Department Manager is responsible for the overall performance of a specific section (department) inside the store. Typical duties include:
Sales & Customer Service
Achieve sales targets for the assigned department.
Ensure excellent customer service & resolve customer queries.
Drive promotional campaigns within the department.
Merchandising & Inventory
Manage stock levels, replenishment, and shrinkage control.
Oversee product display, layout, and visual merchandising.
Monitor fast/slow-moving items and report to higher management.
Team Leadership
Supervise Sales Associates, Cashiers, and Helpers in the department.
Provide training, coaching, and daily task allocation.
Motivate the team to improve sales and customer experience.
Operations & Compliance
Ensure the department follows company SOPs (Standard Operating Procedures).
Maintain cleanliness, safety, and compliance with audit standards.
Handle billing/returns/exchange issues related to the department.
Reporting & Coordination
Report daily sales & stock status to Store/Assistant Store Manager.
Coordinate with Warehouse, Purchase, and Merchandising teams.
Strong retail sales and merchandising knowledge

Ability to work under pressure & meet sales targets
Education: Graduate (BBA, B.Com, or similar preferred; but not mandatory)
Experience: 2–5 years in retail operations (supervisor or team leader level).
